This image was captured deep in the wilderness of western Colorado.  Dan camped here for the night near 11,000 feet so as to have as little atmosphere to photograph through as possible. Being away from any artificial light, the stars really show their stuff.  A little secret: the trees are illuminated with a small flashlight during the 30-second exposure.
